Cute Story

Of course this story is about Andrew! Last night, I was shoe shopping for a wedding I am in on Saturday. I was trying on shoes at DSW, and put on a pair & was walking away from Andrew, looking in the mirror. When I turned around, he had kicked off both his shoes & had reached over to the shoes on the shelf & put on two mismatched women's dress shoes! When I asked him what he was doing, he simply replied "my pretty shoes!". He tried on shoes with me until I found the perfect pair, which he picked out!

Thank you Dora & Diego!

Last night Andrew was watching his favorite movie (for now), Dora Pirate, while I was getting his bath ready. I came out just as she was getting ready to count her stars...and he counted to 7 in Spanish! I was so proud! Thanks to his love for Dora & Diego, he can count in Spanish, and knows the words (and pardon the spelling) - Luna (moon), Tuga (tortuga - turtle), Obre (open), and Estrella (stars).

In English he is routinely counting to 12, but has gotten to 16 with a little help. He keeps forgetting 4 & 5 though! Jumps straight from 3 to 6! We'll have to work on that!

Peck Farm Park

So, I am always looking for fun, new things to do with Andrew on my Mondays off with him. I decided to head out to Peck Farm Park & check out the butterfly museum. Andrew loved the butterflies (as much as he could). When we went in they gave us a "map" and we would look at the butterflies & pick out which one it looked like. He was more impressed with the waterfalls than the butterflies, but it was still fun! After, we walked around and saw the old barns, the 4 story silo (which he insisted on climbing), and walked a long path down to a pond. The most fun, though -- walking on the rocks around the flowers. He had a great time, and it's always fun to explore nature!

Family Vacation

This year, Mike & I took a few days off & headed up to the lake to spend some time with Mom & Ron, and Laurie & Liam. We had a blast! We went out to Alcatraz (a sandbar in the middle of the lake), and anchored the boat & the big floatie pool! The boys had a blast climbing up the ladder and running over to the gate and jumping in! Well, Liam did...Andrew needed a little help, but loved every minute of it! Liam is quite the little fish jumping in and swimming against the current all by himself to get around to the ladder. Very impressive! We got to have one adults night out, where we went to dinner, and then for drinks. We crashed a very classy wedding at the Dirty Turtle, and Mike & Laurie danced and danced. I did a little, but mostly sat with mom watching them have fun! Saturday Mike had to leave and go to work, and Laurie and I took the boys horse back riding. The boys had a blast petting their horses & holding the reins. Andrew still talks about his horse, Smokey, and Liam's horse, Phillip, and how Smokey liked to eat leaves! Every chance he got, our horse was heading into the woods to eat! A little scary for me, but Andrew thought it was a riot!

Fourth of July

This was Andrew's 3rd Fourth of July, and by far was the most fun! His first 4th, he was only 4 weeks old. We went to a party at Charlie & Julie's, got home in time for fireworks, but he was too young & uninterested. An incredibly overwhelmed baby-- he had a tough time sleeping! The next year, Mike worked, and Andrew was tucked away soundly before fireworks even began. This year though -- the fun of a toddler on a less strict schedule!

We went to Charlie & Julie's again for their annual party. Andrew had so much fun playing on the slip n slide & in the pool with his friend Logan. We made it home in plenty of time to get him through the bath & ready for bed...and FIREWORKS! Andrew LOVED them! As the fireworks went off, he exclaimed "The stars are falling, mommy!". What a very cool view! As the fireworks created and lit up the smoke, he would also tell me that the clouds were falling. It was so much fun! We got home & he slept soundly...still talking about the stars falling as he drifted off to sleep. What a fun night!
